Where we take off: technology and innovation
Close to Bremen, one of Germany’s most important centres for the aerospace industry, the town of Nordenham in the Wesermarsch district has taken a prominent position in aircraft construction.
More than 3,000 people are employed here in fuselage assembly, principally for Airbus aircraft. Supply businesses in the surrounding area also provide attractive jobs in material cutting and the manufacture of small parts.
The laser welding of fuselage structures from aluminium alloys was developed in Nordenham and first used in series production here. Innovative products will continue to be developed at the site in future, and existing production procedures will be further optimised. The Technology Centre Nordenham (TZN) was established in 2011 to this end. Some 20 technology-oriented businesses in Germany and abroad are engaged in applied materials research (lightweight construction) on the innovative handling of carbon fibre composites (CFRP) for the manufacture of large components.
Sea Airport Cuxhaven/Nordholz is directly connected to the A27 motorway and located close to the seaports of Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven. It provides ideal conditions for business travel and charter services as well as air traffic to islands in the North Sea.
