Offshore wind energy

Let’s go offshore!

The offshore wind industry is at home here along the Weser to Nordenham, Bremerhaven and on to the mouth of the Elbe at Cuxhaven. The power hub region is Europe’s premier address for the industry. Well-known producers, suppliers, wind farm developers, research institutes and service providers along the entire value chain form a strong network that derives great benefit from the well-established shipping and logistics sector to be found here. But what is really making the developing offshore wind industry strong are the tailor-made conditions the region offers:

  • a custom-made port infrastructure
    (heavy-load terminals, berths for special ships, and much more) with direct access to deep water for seagoing ships;
  • commercial areas and real estate directly on the quay, near the port or in the surrounding area with an efficient transport infrastructure;
  • innovation through a network of specialist and high-profile research institutes (Fraunhofer IWES, DEWI-OCC and others);
  • well-qualified specialist workers close at hand;
  • recognised institutes for training and continuing education as well as certified safety training;
  • the WAB Wind Energy Agency’s effective work at representing the interests of the industry at the national level.

For a great number of companies, the region on the river provides tailor-made conditions for growth. The list that follows shows just a selection of such companies; the list is not comprehensive.
